In this instructional video we head to Northrock Lanes and the Rhatigan Student Center to the bowler on a house shot and sport shot. I am comparing the two patterns and giving an idea on the best way for a bowler to attack these patterns.

Ha! This is my local bowling alley
@6:30 You said board 40. LOL (39 boards on a lane. You know that!) Great content, from what I've seen so far. Keep up the good work. It's the passion like this, sharing the knowledge, that keeps this sport I love alive.
Wesley, this video was extremely well done. Super helpful to an up and coming bowler or a novice that just wants some insight. Your genuine and direct approach is greatly appreciated! I'd love to see you do a video on 2 finger layouts and the differences in ball reaction based solely on layout. Thanks for a really great instructional video
Great video! Glad I found your channel. If you could just do another video right-handed that would be beneficial, haha!
House shot- hit it harder
Sport shot- urethane
Great video well explained
Would going to a different house not show the differences. Because lanes are different
I bowled my first sport shot today om a high school district shot….yeah it wasn't pretty
Theres no way thats the only ball you had with you
am i seeing this right… 2 handed with a thumb??? wow
Amazing video and channel. Do you mind using laymen’s term when talking about “working it a little more” and other things you do with your hands?
hai wesley ..i recently started showing interest in bowling and have been playing for about 3 months now..its not massive but i definitely see improvements..i figured maybe its time to get a custom ball for myself..i decided to focus on learning 2 handed bowling because its very hard for me to put spin on the ball with one hand where as with 2 hands it felt more natural..obviously my form is still bad but i feel like with the right ball i can improve much faster..can you do a video regarding suitable ball for 2 handers? something that a beginner/intermediate can handle..or maybe you can just share here is also fine..really enjoyed your lesson in this video btw ..keep it up!
Okay you were pretty interesting good energy in your presentation, Subbed!
Great video
Tips on how to become a staffer?
Great video
Hi Wes, i really enjoyed this video where you explain the intricacies of finding your "line". Since you were only using one ball it was more difficult to hit the sport shot. It makes us regular schmoes feel better to see how difficult it is to find the right line. I guess next time you can demo using multiple balls on the sport shot ? Best, LA Guy
BTW, Happy Thanksgiving !
Great videos. Keep up the good work.
What do you mean be nice?
I love your ratio of explaining, to actual throws. Reminded me a lot of Brad and Kyle, but with more action. Great stuff
All these people with 225-235 league average think there good till they see heavy oil then they never wanna play on sports cause it's too hard there used to hooking the whole lane and not aiming just let r rip lol.. i bowled against alot of league bowlers way better then me bowl in a sport league and couldnt even average 200 they were around the same as me 170-180 so they are way harder.
What's that plastic wrap on your finger?
Very good and informative video keep them coming
Keep up the good work. Great video.
Thank you, Wesley.
I think I've never play on a sport pattern before, need to stop by the RSC sometimes to try it out LOL. Good video bro! Keep it up.
You should do some 2 handed lesson and techniques
Super great video, many thanks! Have bowled for five years but only now starting to realise the amount of thinking skills needed to adjust to different conditions. This video helps a lot! Cheers from a one handed lefty from Sweden.
The sport shot pattern is what I run into during the house shot on open play burnt out lane play. I assume my traditional line, my toe is 2 or 3 boards right of the right most dots and I aim for the extreme right arrow near the gutter. I keep my hand relaxed and flat under the ball, push out to the right, do my crossover step and swing through the target. If it is oily, I slow my swing down and wait at the bottom to generate more lift. If dry, I walk faster, hold the ball lower and slide and push the ball forward and lift. I keep my target the same and just position my left toe to the right or left accordingly to adjust. I'm a one handed bowler.
Very good explanation,keep on your great 👍 work.Awesome !!
One thing I noticed is that almost any ball on a house shot looks the same. The differences are seen when they are used on sport shots. We bowled 12 weeks on all Short, med, and long us open patterns and I averaged 12 pins lower than the previous summer when we used wtba, kegel, and PBA sport shots.
Great video
gunning for that brad and kyle spotlight, eh? with videos as high quality, succinct, and informative as this, you'll get there. seriously, great video.
Where is the bowling center located?
Awesome video Wesley! Some other things I'd love to see you breakdown would be the bowling balls themselves maybe talk about and show the difference in reaction between symmetric vs asymmetric. Another topic would be your plan of attack on spare shooting…does it change when you are on house vs sport? Thanks for all the content!
I just played in a tournament where they used the old dead flat US open oil pattern. I averaged 160..
Great video Wesley
House shots are harder for me sometimes lol
